The main character just follows orders from people all the time, he never thought for himself for 1 minute. What kind of message is that? I guess the message is that he ended up old and alone. I can see Joe Pesci playing Navy admiral Raymond Spruance after seeing him portray Russell Bufalino, the Quiet Don. Spruance had a similar demeanor. Pesci should reconsider just a blanket retirement from acting and do it as a hobby of sorts because he is an exceptionally good and versatile actor.
