The main character just follows orders from people all the time, he never thought for himself for 1 minute. What kind of message is that? I guess the message is that he ended up old and alone. No one else cared for the story either, he was mostly talking to himself in the entire film.

I can see Joe Pesci playing Navy admiral Raymond Spruance after seeing him portray Russell Bufalino, the Quiet Don. Spruance had a similar demeanor. Pesci should reconsider just a blanket retirement from acting and do it as a hobby of sorts because he is an exceptionally good and versatile actor. This movie has something in common with Rambo Last Blood. Old, overweight, Italian has-beens repeating typecast roles one more time. After about an hour, I couldn't take it any more and turned it off. Can't imagine what 3 1/2 hours would have done to me.
